Hon. Erin O’Toole Launches New Podcast Series
Bowmanville, ON – Erin O’Toole, Member of Parliament for Durham, is proud to announce the launch of Blue Skies, a podcast series dedicated to exploring all facets of Canadian conservatism.
The Blue Skies podcast series gives listeners a front row seat to Canadian politics, whether at home or on the go. Each episode, available at erinotoolemp.ca, and through SoundCloud and iTunes, features Erin O'Toole delving into the issues that matter to Canadians and shape the national conversation.
“The Conservative Party has always been a party of ideas,” said O’Toole. “My hope for Blue Skies is to create a platform where conservatives can discuss their ideas because I’ve never been more optimistic about the future of the Conservative Party or our vision for Canada.”
The first episode of Blue Skies discusses electoral reform. Erin articulates the strengths of our existing electoral system and exposes the problematic approach of the Liberal government on this issue. In this first candid and engaging episode, Erin underscores the need for Canadians to be consulted in a national referendum on electoral reform and looks at the partisanship fueling the Liberal Government's opposition to a referendum.
“Canada’s democracy is the envy of the world,” said O’Toole. “I welcome a debate over electoral reform, but also insist that Canadians be given the final say. Nothing is more important than the integrity of our democracy. Changes to our electoral system must be above politics.”
In addition to Blue Skies and its pan-Canadian focus, Erin also hosts Durham: Past and Present, a podcast dedicated to the rich history of his riding. In the most recent episode, Erin sat down with local historian Ted Barris to discuss the history of Scugog and the legacy of Lt. Col. Sam Sharpe.
Erin’s vision for both podcasts is to provide his constituents and those across Canada with an accessible, convenient and interactive new forum for discussing his ideas and vision for Canada.
